Anläßlich der Präsentation dieses Films beim internationalen Film-Festival 1979 in Taormina / Italien schrieb das renommierte amerikanische Fachblatt "Variety":This very stylish adaption of Gottfried Kellers 19th century novel is a thoroughly delightfull comedy of manners, somewhat reminiscent of Eric Rohmers "La Marquise von O."The cast is a very attractive one and acting is on a high level. Christian Quadflieg is a dashing hero, and among the women, Laura Trotter, Silvia Dionisio, Adelheid Arndt und Pauline Larrieu are standouts. Alida Valli is delightful.
